Call for Papers: 2009 Symposium
Hello to my modeling friends....I have been given the honor of editing the 2009 Sympo for NFFS. It is because of our membership and others that we (NFFS) has been able to provide a quality, informative addition every year. As times and technology changes, this book needs to change with it. The transfering of this info provides modelers world wide with a text that will improve their skills and capabilities, making Free Flight a better place to play. So, with this in mind, what can you do to help us out? Come up with ideas, write them in a consice form, and author an article. Not a great writer but have an excellent idea? Feel free to write and we can help you. Many folks have provided very interesting articles on very simplistic themes. As always, we are looking for cutting edge info. However, with the changing times, Free Flight needs to change with it. Look into your crystal ball and help improve the sport.Just because you "only" fly AMA events, don't be left out. Concepts and trends in AMA need to be documented and now is your time to do it.There have been articles on Scale and Electric that have been of interest to the organization. Also, how about Discus glider or one of the many AMA rubber events? I would love to see more engine related articles as well as props, fuel, fuel systems, timers, and other mechanisms (folders, flappers, swing wings, rubber front ends, etc.). We could also use an article on, possibly, where towline gliders have gone from, where they are now, and what happens in the future (Gil Morris actually stated in one of his Sympo articles that flappers would be used in F1A- again, ahead of his time!).I am particularly looking for insightful articles on FF present and where it could go in the future. What do we as enthusiests need to do to purpetuate it. I would love to see articles on both what has been done for junious and for us "old" folks. Or, how about inventive ways of getting (and holding) new flying sites. Also, I am looking for high quality photos and artwork. Before sending these, they do need to meet certain quality requirements- They do need to be high resolution, with the subject face first and something that will be of interest to all.So, I am looking forward to comments and maybe you can be a world famous author! If you have others in your club that may help out, please provide this info to them. My list here is small, but hopefully it will spur some interest.Feel free to contact me about any questions you have...Thanks for your participation!John Lorbieckilorbieckie@sbcglobal.net
